Psychology in Film

Sources and credits

Every profile on this site lists the release or catalog source checked for the work, the companion psychology readings, and the provenance of any poster or trailer link. This page explains the labels and lists every source cited across all 60 profiles.

How work sources are checked

Each work profile states which source was opened to check its release year, director or creator credits, format, and premise, along with the date checked and the scope of access. Of the 60 works on the site, 55 were checked against an official distributor, studio, archive, or peer-reviewed page and 5 were checked against reference catalogs.

Release or archive checked
Release metadata, credits, and premise were checked on an official distributor, studio, archive, or peer-reviewed publication page at the scope stated on the record.
Reference catalog checked
Catalog or bibliographic details were checked at the limited scope stated on the record; full source access was not available.

How companion readings relate to a screen work

Most psychological studies paired with a movie or series investigate the underlying concept rather than the screen work itself. To keep that distinction clear, every reading carries one of three relationship labels (7 direct commentaries or studies of the work, 109 conceptual companions, and 0 contextual references).

About This Work
Direct commentary or scholarship: this publication specifically discusses or evaluates this screen work.
Conceptual Companion
Conceptual companion: does not study this work. It investigates the underlying psychological construct or textbook topic.
Contextual Reference
Contextual reference: does not study this work. It provides historical, methodological, or contrasting therapeutic background.

Posters, trailers, and typography credits

This guide uses historical posters and promotional artwork to identify and discuss the screen works (60 images). Each image has a source and a rights note. Copyrighted artwork is labeled separately from public-domain or openly licensed material; rights remain with the respective rights holders. Historical public-domain notes retain their jurisdiction limits. A title card is used when an image has not been checked.

External trailer links point to YouTube watch pages (9 works) with the uploader channel name recorded on the watch page, and open in the same tab with no third-party embeds or tracking scripts. Typography uses self-hosted DM Sans under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.
